PC Not Displaying (RAM)

We are going to move/remove the RAM to see if that is causing it not to display.

  • Circled in YELLOW is where the RAM in located (Depending on the system there could either be 1 or 2 sticks of RAM)
  • Please follow the instructions based on How Many sticks of RAM are present:

1 Stick of RAM

  1. Located at the top and bottom of the RAM sticks are TABS holding it in place (Example circled in RED)
  2. Press down on the tabs on both ends to release the RAM.
  3. Remove the RAM, and place it into the other slot(s)
  4. When reinserting the RAM, make sure the tabs at the top and bottom are open, and align the slit on the RAM with the slot.
  5. Press the RAM firmly. The tabs will close and click when it is secure.
  6. Turn on the PC to see if it displays.
    • Make sure to try all the available slots.

2 Sticks of RAM

  1. Located at the top and bottom of the RAM sticks are TABS holding it in place (Example circled in RED)
  2. Release 1 RAM by pressing down the tabs on both ends to release the stick.
  3.  Turn on the PC to see if it displays with the 1 stick in the PC.
  4. If no display, move the Slotted stick into another available slot and see if it displays.
    • Before testing with the other stick of RAM ensure all slots are tested
  5. When reinserting the RAM, make sure the tabs at the top and bottom are open, and align the slit on the RAM with the slot.
  6. Press the RAM firmly. The tabs will close and click when it is secure.
  7. Repeat steps with other RAM.
